Smart ForTwo ECU remapping

About remapping
The Smart Fortwo accounts for 227 files in our catalogue, split between the classic 0.8 CDI diesel — the single most worked variant with 52 files — and the three-cylinder turbocharged petrol family: 1.0T, 0.9T and 0.9 Turbo. These are small-displacement engines where a few extra Newton-metres genuinely change how the car feels.
Stage 1 accounts for 192 files. On the 0.8 CDI the aim is usually more low-end pull so the car does not feel out of its depth outside town; on the turbocharged three-cylinder petrols the margin is more evident. The most common ECUs are the ME17.9.20 and EDC16C31, plus EDC15 and EDC15C5 on older units.

Is it worth remapping an engine as small as the 0.8 CDI?
Yes, precisely because the starting figures are low: the relative torque gain is very noticeable when pulling away and on hills. It will not make the car sporty, but it does resolve the sense of being underpowered outside town.
Why is the speed limiter so often requested on the Fortwo?
The Fortwo leaves the factory with its top speed electronically limited, and we have 34 files to remove that cut. Remember that legal speed limits are unchanged: this modifies the electronic cut, nothing more.
Do you work on the turbocharged petrol versions?
Yes. The catalogue covers the 1.0T, 0.9T and 0.9 Turbo, mainly on ME17.9.20 and ME7.7.0 ECUs.
